How to Bet On Tennis Online – A beginner’s Guide

June 08 2021 TOP 10

First played in the 19th century in England UK, Tennis is now one of the popular sports with a lot of elite fans around the world.

With matches set for a period of about 9 months throughout the year, massive betting opportunities arise for you as a punter.

Understanding the game gives you more clarity on areas you can look into and as well enjoy the game of tennis.

Here are a few facts you can keep in mind about how tennis scoring works (confuses a lot because it’s not as direct as scoring on football)

Most tennis matches are made up of 2 or 3 sets (women’s matches are usually 2 sets while men’s matches are made up of 3 sets.

For an individual to win a set, the player needs to win at least 6 games.

A game starts at zero (or more called love) up to 40. But that doesn’t mean you need to score 40 points instead it's just 4 points, from zero to 15, 30,40 then gaming point which wins over the game.

A tennis match is started off with a coin flip between the players to decide who will serve first. The server will serve for the rest of the game until 40.

In case of a tie at the end of the game (called a deuce in tennis), the players will have to win by 2 points in a row.

With tennis, the first player who wins 6 games in a set wins the set. Matches are either doubles or singles depending on the tournament organized.

To win the match, a player should win 2 or more sets and in case of players both winning a set then the 3rd set will determine the winner.

Unlike other games, Tennis does not have a regulated time period instead it follows the number of seats won by a player to announce a winner.

Tennis Tournaments are played on different court surfaces like grass, clay, hard or even carpet and significant players are known to perform better or worse on a certain court surface. You should also look into that as you place bets on tennis.

At least that is a starter pack for you to understand tennis rules.
